Betty & Sid (my mom and dad)

Listening to the little mini convos / tit for tats my parents do has got to be one of the most entertaining and hysterical things ever. They really are a riot

Here's a quick little background on them, so you can imagine their characteristics :)

My Mom - Born and raised in Lima, Peru and lived there till she was about 21 and then moved to the US for school

she really doesn’t realize that half the things she says are borderline offensive; but when you realize she is this tiny (barely 5’), sassy, independent, nationally-known bridge playing genius, Peruvian woman that has been taking care of herself since she was 6 years old, moved to the states and hardly spoke English, held 3 jobs to complete her master’s degree; you can’t help but to find her absolutely hilarious – oh add on a Spanish accent, pronunciation of English slang and certain vowels all jacked up, exaggerated gestures and physical contact, and no concept of speaking too loudly and rather impatiently

My Dad - Born in Louisiana and raised in Mississippi

he is a very simple man with 3 main interests in his life that include: his computer, watching sports and diet dr pepper. A quiet man; one that doesn't like change, loves routine, hates his stuff moved out of place, doesn't particularly like leaving the house or socializing and has used the same brand of shampoo for over 30 years, is quite opposite from my mother. This southern boy only owned 2 pairs of shoes growing up, didn't have much interest in school or what his career was going to be, somehow finished his degree in Computer Science and accepted a job offer from the Arabian Oil Company, known as ARAMCO in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia where he and my mother lived for over 20 years and raised my brother and I.

Oh- he uses words like billfold, commode, pronounces wrestling as wrastling and calls everyone "babe"

My parents ying and yang / opposite attracts makes each day ever so amusing to listen to.
