Your Present Offering

open your heart for admiration
build curiosity in quirk and carriage
and let your ears fancy inconsistency and quibble

notice ease in comfort
the sharing of space and presence

be real. be raw.
be genuine
manifest love; love without apprehension

don't let the ego fool the watcher
realize this
distinguish your precious
intuition shall bring you warmth
realization will unveil your worthy prized wonder

be worthy. try harder....

"Im Ready" - Click here to listen - co-writer, singer and recorded by Trevor Harden. Co-write Julie Sandifer (my favorite part starts at 3:13)

I recently had one of the most amazing experiences with another artist collaborating on a creative level that i am not familiar with nor did i think i would be any good at.

I got to work with the amazing and so very talented singer/songwriter/musician - Trevor Harden . Mr Harden is on an rather impressive project that consists of writing, recording and posting one new song a week for a year! The general theme of the songs explore the many different facets of human love.

We got to talking and I questioned him if he ever wrote about love in the now. Meaning, we tend to hear a lot of songs with lyrics about past relationships or love whether they were good or bad and you dont hear to often about where the heart is now and not having the past be the focal point. As easy as that sounds, he agreed that would be something to write about and threw that challenge right back at me, lol. So he asked if I would like to add songwriter to my list of artistic expression. Me - hmmm okay! I will give it a try.

Not. Easy. I started writing thinking of course i could write about love in general and not have it be anything to do with my past but as i got to writing i realized the more i tired not to think about past loves/relations; those were the thoughts that i really FELT more and felt the deep roots to the heart. writing about them almost felt like it was a need rather than ignoring them.

So it seems i wrote about me now, then, and combination of all the loves and the love.

This process went way beyond what i thought it was going to be. not only was i able to express myself and learn from myself, but i got work with someone i can relate to on a deeper creative level. it was SO stimulating.

So i sent Trevor my write up (all nervous - i dont know how you songwriters do it, lol) and he was so supportive. He helped me edit the lyrics and then of course did all the hard work by actually turning it into a singable song, and put the whole thing together in like less than a day! Pure genius he is.

Wow. i am still so shocked that my little phrases that usually get lost in translation from heart to head actually came together to create a powerful and beautiful song. one that has many views and i think everyone can relate to at one point.

i really wanted to blog about this for a couple reasons. One, dont ever not try something because it is unfamiliar and you think you will look silly or just dont think you can do it. because overcoming that uncomfortableness will always lead you to a whole other level of being. this IS growing, learning and really living and experience life. second, meeting other artists and getting to work with them brings serenity and contentment because they "get it." they just get it. there are days when you wish someone would understand you.

keep networking and be open to meeting new people no matter what the intentions are. people just like you and people very different from you. its part of what makes life so darn amusing and delightful. we are social creatures. now go socialize! :)

so once again. Thank you for pushing me Trevor! it had a huge affect on me and i am very grateful for the adventure i got to take with you.
